How this directory works

Where our 25,496 laundromat and 8,537 dry-cleaner listings come from, how they're kept honest, and what we will never do with your trust.

Where the listings come from

Every listing starts from open, community-maintained map data: OpenStreetMap (ODbL) merged with the Overture Maps Foundation places dataset — the same open data used by major mapping platforms. We deduplicate, classify each business (laundromats and dry cleaners are listed separately and never mixed in search), assign it to its real city by ZIP code, and infer services like 24-hour access and wash & fold from its own recorded attributes. On top of that base, owner submissions correct and enrich listings — an owner can claim their business free of charge to fix hours, phone, services and photos.

Ratings are Google's, shown live

We don't run our own rating system, and we don't copy anyone else's. When you see stars on a listing page, they're fetched live from Google at the moment you load the page — the same number you'd see on Google Maps right then, never stored, never edited, never inflated. Every listing also links directly to its Google reviews so you can read them at the source.

What "Featured" means

Featured placements are paid, and they're always labeled with a gold Featured tag — you'll never mistake an ad for a ranking. Payment buys position on a page, not better ratings, not altered information, and not removal of competitors. Everything else on the site — order, coverage, tags — is driven by data, not by who pays.

Verified listings

A listing marked owner-verified means the business owner has claimed it and confirmed its details themselves. Verified information (hours, services, phone) overrides map data, because nobody knows a laundromat better than the person who runs it.

Accuracy, honestly stated

Hours change, businesses close, phones get disconnected — no directory is perfect, including this one. We refresh the underlying open data on a rolling basis and act on every user report. If something's wrong, tell us and we'll fix it; if you'd rather be sure before a long drive, call ahead — every listing with a known phone number shows it.

Who runs this

Laundromat By Me is independently built and run by people who know the laundry business firsthand — so it's designed the way an owner would want their business represented, and the way a customer actually searches: fast, local, and honest.
